Kitsap County law enforcement official charged for drunk driving

On Behalf of | Oct 16, 2013 | Drunk Driving |

In certain situations, it can be difficult to determine where the line is between sobriety and the legal limit. Even responsible people can make a miscalculation. Many factors go into determining a person’s level of intoxication, so it can vary from day to day. This can make it difficult to make the judgment as to whether or not it’s safe to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.

Not long ago, a deputy prosecutor for Kitsap County ran into legal trouble. Police arrested her on suspicion of drunk driving after she was involved in a minor car accident.

According to the Kitsap Sun, this is not the first time the local law enforcement official has had an issue with drunk driving charges. In fact, she faced similar charges in 2007. As a result of those charges, the woman was ordered to meet certain conditions and was convicted on a less serious charge for negligent driving.

Since this is the second time the woman is facing charges related to drunk driving, there is a chance that officials may not be so willing to offer a lighter sentence this time around. This could prove to be problematic.

At the same time, if this charge is stemming from a larger problem of chemical dependency, than rehabilitation may be in the best interests of the woman and the public. When people are dealing with alcoholism, it may be hard to use sound judgment before deciding to drive. As such, it could be helpful to look at all of the details behind the case before moving forward.
